Battlebox Marktplatz Bremen

Battlebox on Bremen´s marketplace right in the city center.

So the concept is this:
We come with this foldable, rotatable wall, useable from both sides, which can be turned into a square box, too (hence the name, stemming from the original performance "Pandora´s Box").
We´ve got 4 Artists introducing themselves and competing with each other (therefore the "battle" to the box).
We´ve got a DJ, pumping hip hop beats, and the MC, communicating with the audience. He asks the crowd for words, terms, subjects of our next paintings. Often we have a combination of 2 or 3 terms to be the subject of our work.
We then get 10 minutes time to create a painting instandly to it.
The audience then decides per applaus who won the battle and is going to have another round - until the final one!
Allthewhile the wall gets covered with fresh white paint on the backside, after each rotation.

Battlebox “Autofreier StadTraum”

Danke euch!

On the 21st september we had the last Battlebox of this year so far. It was windy, it was rainy, but we had some fun. I for the first time this season had the opportunity to let go of the "responsible-trip" a bit and celebrate a little, like others did all the time.

TSW Sketchbook ca. ‘91

A friend of mine gave me this PDF with scans he made from old black-and-white copies of sketches, not only by TSW / The Style Warriorz, but loads of others aswell. In some cases it's hard to tell who made the original sketch, since at that times, people used to make their own tag on these copies, before they were given way to the next guy.
A few names here are Scez / Zoe (the later Keno (R.I.P.)), Menace, Jore, Eton, Newton, Caras, D-Nize, Jase, B-Base, me, and then there's some stuff from other towns and UK aswell.
The quality is bad, I think it was one of his first tries to digitally archive stuff in the late 90s... (and of course, many of the copies have been bad quality already before that)

Battlebox

BATTLEBOX from Kenmo on Vimeo.

Battlebox, June 2013, Kirchweyhe / Germany
Making use of the 'left-over' box of the performance "Pandoras Box", I created this hip-hop battle-type event. The audience suggests the themes that the artists then have to paint to, within 10 or 15 minutes. To make it proper fun I also invited DJ Stickeltodd and MC Blowm for some adequate musical support!

The themes here are (in order of appearance):
1. "Four elements of Hip-Hop"
2. "Kleingartenverein" (garden plot association)
3. "Wochenendeinkauf" (weekend shopping)
4. "Fantasy"

Soundtrack: "Rauh und Ungepflegt", Blowmbeatz
This was the first try. We hope for more events like this in the near future! Book us!
